Worfolk Cottage: An Eco-Friendly Retreat

Offers you the space to make a spiritual connection with nature.

Worfolk is an eco-friendly cottage with a rich Quaker heritage dating back to 1659. Located near the East Coast of Yorkshire, between Whitby and Scarborough, it offers a peaceful and sustainable setting for your stay.

The cottage accommodates up to 14 people and features five bedrooms, each with its own wash basin. There is a communal bathroom, a shower room, and an accessible ground-floor bedroom with an ensuite. The ground floor includes a snug, a sitting room that opens onto a patio, and a bright, airy dining area. A central kitchen with pantry offers an electric cooker with twin ovens, a fridge/freezer, and all necessary crockery, cutlery, and cooking utensils.

Guests are kindly requested to bring their own towels and basic cleaning supplies.

Worfolk is powered by renewable energy sources, including a ground source heat pump, wind turbine, and photovoltaic panels, with solar panels supplementing water heating. The cottage features underfloor heating on the ground floor and radiators upstairs, with a high level of insulation throughout. A wood-burning stove, positioned between the snug and the sitting room, provides additional warmth if needed.

The garden offers grassy areas with trees, shrubs, and dry stone walls, and there is parking available for 3 to 4 cars

Refurbished to the highest standards of environmentally friendly building practices, Worfolk ensures a sustainable future. Enjoy your stay in our beautiful, tranquil setting, knowing that your impact on the environment is minimized, in keeping with our Quaker ethos.
